Zinsergasse –
Reconstruction of private residence under preservation order

A town house from the 13th century in the Black Forest was reconstructed by WINKELS CONCEPTS to be a modern private home. The partially collapsed building was renovated from the ground up. There ensued a private family dwelling with high quality furnishings and fittings in a bold conception with striking contrast between the renovated ancient construction and the modern styled extension.
The constant dialogue with archaeologists and conservationists, the careful handling of the ancient building substance according to the strict regulations of the State Authority, and the wish of the owner for the most modern equipment posed a special challenge during both the planning and construction stages. WINKELS CONCEPTS were able to match these requirements throughout all phases of the project.
The above efforts were rewarded in 2004 with the prize „Exemplary Building in Baden-Württemberg“ awarded by the State Chamber of Architecture. A prize that is only awarded once every 10 years.
